After two successful years in Monaco, TRANSITION Forum has announced its next edition will take place in Nice, France, in September 2020. Hosted by the City of Nice, which has earned a reputation as a smart and sustainable city, next year’s annual Forum will focus on the urgent need to scale up action to ensure the transition towards a prosperous, inclusive and sustainable economy.

2020 is a climate tipping point, the year when carbon emissions must peak if the world is to achieve its Paris Agreement temperature rise limit of well below 2°C. Despite the disappointing results of the recent UN climate talks at COP25, progress is being made as businesses, local governments, investors and innovators have been stepping up to make the transition.

We witnessed inspiring examples of transformative change during the 2019 TRANSITION Forum, as over 60 international speakers presented innovative initiatives — from carbon capture technologies to zero-carbon transportation, to green buildings and recycling microplastics from the oceans — which proved that prosperity and sustainability are compatible.

Climate change is moving faster than we are, and timing is everything. We need to scale up our ambitions and actions quickly if we are to stop its devastating impact.

Building on the momentum sparked during previous editions, the 2020 TRANSITION Forum will convene 300 climate innovators, business leaders, investors, scientists and representatives of civil society to work together and find concrete solutions.

We're very happy to be returning as a media partner for 2020 - Join us in the Smart City of Nice in September as we work together to power our clean future!
